Toy theatres in the heart of Covent Garden

Benjamin Pollock's Toy shop was established in the 1880s in Hoxton in London's East End. It specialised in selling paper toy theatres and the current shop, in its new location in Covent Garden, still does. The Covent Garden shop opened in 1980 and the current owners still stock a large range of these delightful creations. Its location in the heart of Theatreland ensures there are a selection of theatre inspired lines including marionettes and glove puppets as well as other traditional toys.

A toy shop from another era
On the second ever trip I made to London (age 9) we went to Benjamin Pollock’s Toy Museum (on Scala Street). I was in awe at the amazing toy theatres.
I recently had a reason to go back to the store in Covent Garden and ended up stocking up on birthday and Christmas presents for every child I know for the next 2 or 3 years – not only do they still stock the delightful theatres (which were better then I remembered) but they also have a great collection of other old-fashioned games and toys.
