The Library Hotel in Manhattan has a stylish, classical reception, featuring – you guessed it – scores of books. The rooms have grown-up civilised features: dark-wood bed with leather headboard, small but well-appointed bathrooms. They also have dozens of reading matter, and are named according to their literary theme. There's a penthouse bar on the 14th floor for cocktails, and complimentary coffee and cookies all day on the second floor; you might find you stay anchored.
