Explore nine decks of Britain's naval history, as you navigate the cramped labyrinth of gun turrets, magazines and engine rooms of Europe's last big gun ship of the Second World War. Launched in 1939, Belfast was a leading player in the sinking of the battle cruiser Scharnhorst, and also the Normandy Landings. Since 1978 she's been berthed just upstream from the Tower Bridge as a naval time capsule, providing a fascinating glimpse into her service and battle stories.

Really enjoyed exploring all the turrets, engine room and other elements of the ship. Its a shame we never kept HMS Vanguard, Britains last true battleship, just thing what a site that would be in comparison HMS Belfast!!

Even bigger boats

Rating 9 months ago

If you're lucky and time your visit right, you might get to see even *bigger* boats moored up alongside the warship - cruise ships regularly visit the Thames and moor alongside HMS Belfast, making it seem small by comparison!

A great museum

Rating 9 months ago

This was one of the best museums I've ever been to. I may be biased 'cos I love warships, but the depth of info was surprising and the design of the exhibits was also much better than expected: the cutaway diagrams are particularly cool. Anyone who was a boy in the 70s will enjoy these very much indeed.
