An amazing gastropub near Waterloo

Pop in for a drink or stay for a fantastic meal. You can't reserve a table at this place (the only downside), but the food is amazing. So....if you want to eat here, be prepared to arrive early. The menu is imaginative with enormous platefuls of meaty goodness, and sensible prices. The best meals here are for sharing - rib of beef, cassoulet, whole leg of lamb - so it's a good place to go in a large group.

Great place to eat with friends (table sharing is expected - so you may make some new friends). Don't expect fine dining - it's rustic, hearty fare that goes down well in the 'eclectic' dining room. The menu is seasonal but if the Vacherain or the Cassoulet is on the menu you won't regret ordering them. Go before 7:00 and you will probably get a table - otherwise expect to wait until the early folks leave - you can eat in the bar and the beer is also very good
A definite visit!

One of the things I like about the Anchor & Hope is the inability to reserve a table. It means that those who eat 'really' want to be there.
The food is amazing, no the best if you dislike meat, with simple dishes executed beautifully. Their specialties include a slow cooked shoulder of lamb - enough to feed a small army!

Meat lover's pub
if you can get over the trip to the backstreets of Waterloo and can deal with the stress of getting a table , then this is the pub for meat lovers . Quite expensive and the wine list can surprise you but always had a good time here.
favorite dish: blood cake with duck egg
