There are many, many great pubs in Soho and come Friday night, they are all overflowing with media darlings celebrating the end of the week. What makes the Shaston stand apart from the melee is that it is the unusual (and cheap!) beers and the lovely staff, especially the ever-so-slightly scary manager Sally, a dominatrix of a woman who will verbally whip you if you dare step outside the designated drinking area into the road! If this were the 70's the Stones would have written a song about her.
