Litchfield Villa
Hands down, the best place for picnic

Built in 1857, Litchfield Villa -- located on the Park Slope edge of Prospect Park -- predates the rest of the neighborhood by some decades and is a fabulous example of Italianate architecture, complete with Corinthian columns and porch supports carved with motifs of plenty (corn and wheat). The Villa is open to the public, so you can poke around inside. But if it's a sunny day, you're best off outside, with a loaf of bread, a jug of wine, and a friend or two. The gardens are lovely.
