Along the Hudson River is a densely forested area that is home to the Riverside Park Bird Sanctuary. In 1916, the Women's League for The Protection of Riverside Park began caring for the park and planted 65 trees. There are more than 100 species recorded, including many species of Warblers, Thrushes, Scarlet Tanagers and the magnificent Peregrine Falcon. Look in the trees for the Goldfinches and Sparrows and for the woodpeckers climbing up and down the bark.
