I only go to Banners for one thing & that's the breakfast (though the menu is extensive). Large portions with good ingredients are the order of the day. Crouch End might be a little off the beaten track, but it's worth the effort. In fact it's so popular you should book before a visit (it's also kid friendly). I usually turn up solo & sneak in at the bar. Scrambled eggs, sausage, mushrooms, toast on the side with fresh coffee & a smoothie generally sets me up for the day.

One of Londons best value restaurants

Rating about 1 year ago

Slightly off-the-beaten (Crouch End) BUT is definately worth a visit if you're eating on a budget & looking for an un-hurried,vibrant diner-style experience.
Standard menu includes a good choice of styles & continents (Thai, Carribbean, burgers, vegetarian etc.)complemented by a fine list of daily specials. Would be hard not to please even the fussiest of eaters.
Definately worth booking ahead on weekends & evenings.
Very child-friendly. If you don't like kids in restaurants go after 7pm.

Caribbean Food

Rating about 1 year ago

As well as Breakfast and Burgers, it has a very good Caribbean menu/theme.

Kiss the Sky is a good cocktail bar across the road if your Bloody Mary's get you in the mood for more!

Banners is also - and rightly so - famed for its beef burgers. Cooked to order the burgers are juicy and covered in just the right amount of cheddar cheese. The portions are indeed huge - burgers are served with a colourful salad (which makes a welcome change from your standard green lettuce and half a tomato) and lots of lovely handcut (I assume) chips with the skin on. Tasty stuff - perfect for the morning after with a Bloody Mary (or a smoothie of the day)!
