Brixton Academy is the prime mid-sized venue for the world’s biggest acts – The Sex Pistols, Bob Dylan and The Clash have all performed there and the sloping floor belies its origins as a cinemas.
Great for intimate gigs.
Brixton has earnt itself a nasty reputation, but don't be put off. The Academy is a great location for bands, I've seen Winehouse, QOTSA and Arcade Fire here and you can't fail to be wowed by the intimacy of this venue. You can get tickets outside usually, make sure you barter. Also, worth noting that the Victoria tube line often shuts early for repairs, so plan your journey in advance.
