London's top food market

Open on Friday's and Saturday's only, Borough Market is the best place in London to shop for fresh, seasonal food produce. The quality of the food is amazing. Producers come from all over the country and you really can buy most things. The area also has some nice eateries and bars so it makes for a lovely way to spend a Saturday.

it is fabulous. best to go hungry as you will want to sample everything and get hot sandwiches - great chorizo - as you walk around. follow that with a delicious dessert and a hot drink and you are in foodie heaven.
A brilliant day out

Nothing like walking through the stalls on an empty stomach and gorging yourself on an incredible variety of treats - venison burgers, oysters, olives, fish, and on and on and on. you can't beat ending a successful day of gastronomic pleasure with a few pints and some people watching at the Market Porter.

I love Konditor and Cook for great cakes and think they are the best at the market. I also love the Brindisa cafe and restaurant. It serves amazing Spanish food for breakfast lunch and dinner. The wine list is superb! They have a deli in the market too where you can buy all of the produce, but it is much nicer to sit and people watch.

Small and perfect, Borough market is a great introduction to some of Britain's favourite 'grub'. Treat yourself to a hog roast sandwich or jacket potato loaded with bubbling hot cheese.
I defy anyone to go without sampling something.
Impossible not to buy something

With all the wonderful produce on sale ther it's almost impossible not to end up buying something - even if it is a pie with some bread, cheese and wine that you can go and enjoy on a sunny day down by the river near Tower Bridge

Oh the smell
I love Borough Market. The smell of the food and fresh produce is unbelievable and, as Toonfan said it is impossible to leave not buying anything. However, be prepared for the crowds, specially in summer around lunch time.
