Cecil Court
A street full of bookshops

Cecil Court isn’t a second-hand bookshop - it’s a whole street of second-hand bookshops! Lined up, one after the other, like…well, like so many books on a shelf. There isn’t room to name them all here, but if you can’t find something to interest you in Cecil Court, then you are truly beyond redemption.

It isn't just about second-hand bookshops

Cecil Court is also home to some of the world's finest Antique Map shops. I find myself spending at least an hour every week perusing some of the most fascinating works of what people a few centuries ago perceived to be the way the world looked. It's even better if you can get the shop owner to explain the history of certain maps - it's incredible how much politics was involved in making them sometimes! Patronage and all that good stuff. Definitely worth a visit and ideally situated.

Overpriced but irresistible.
While the books are priced for the location -- real collectors will be able to find better deals elsewhere -- it's hard not to be charmed by the bookshops of Cecil Court. Marchpane is a particular favourite, with early editions of children's books across two floors.
