...It still wouldn't rival the Upper East Side hangout the locals call The Auction House. With no sign outside and lead-thick curtains, this bar is a well-guarded underground haunt for residents tired of all the sports bars and pubs catering to the 21 and under crowd. The Auction House traffics in threadbare velvet chairs and dimly lit corners in keeping with the Anne Rice motif. The drinks are respectable and the prices will keep you coming back. As long as you can find it again.
